APPLE DAY 2011

APPLE DAY 2011 is on Saturday the 8th of October

Please come along and support our wonderful Seasonal Celebration in its 12th year
and now held in the beautiful Bridport Community Orchard.
If you want to volunteer, bake a cake or simply want to know more please reply to this message.
Find attached a poster with all the relevant info.
If you can print it out to display in your front window/village notice board/school/car window
in fact if you can display it anywhere it would be a great help.
Please note that there is no apple ID this year (David needs the break)
But he will be holding a short apple tree surgery for anyone wanting advice in looking after their trees.

All the Best

David, Kim, Kathy, Wendy, Ella, Eva, Tom Ellie, Naimh and Reuben of TREEWISE

Progress progress

We now have fences to divide the allotments from orchard and will have plots allocated very soon. Then we hope that our resident photographer will get some great work in progress photos of food growing!

Take a look at his blog and photos  by clicking  ‘ Our March Workday’  link.

The Community Access allotment will be up and running soon and we will be getting plants in the ground the minute we can get in..well maybe not the very first couple of minutes!!

The local schools are getting involved in the Bee Awareness campaign we have devised which aims to create a feast of nectar to help out our bee population this summer. And the diary is filling up already with community events. Keep an eye on the events page and if you can make it we would love to show you around!

Notes from the meeting

Dear everyone We had such a good time on January 17th, and do hope some of you who came then, will want to jon us again. We much look forward to seeing you.

PLEASE NOTE

Tuesday March 17th, in the George, South Street. 8pm. An informal evening, with anyone interested, just to chat, see Pete Milson’s photos of planting day, and maybe have a glass or two.

We have been successful in our bid to the Dorset Startegic partnership. for a Grant towards work with Schools, to engage them in the Orchard. Kim Squirrell, the Tree wise Cooperative and the Symondsbury Apple Project will be leading this work, and Kim would love to hear from anyone who

1. Might be available during School time to help run workshops, in either a School or The Orchard

2. Has particular links with a School or playgroup. The activites planned are diverse, to suit all age groups, and a wide range of curriculum topics.so room for all skills!
